WE'VE MOVED!
Many anti-Obama blogs were locked down Wednesday night (6/25) by Blogger, supposedly due to their policy against "spamming." This is an outrage, but we're not going down without a fight.
We've set up our new place on WordPress. Coincidentally, we also called the new blog NObama Blog because we really, really like the name. Everything from here has been exported to the new blog (except for the graphics, but we're working on that)
Thanks so much to everyone in the NObama Community for comments and support. Thanks to all readers for patience and understanding. We're all in this together! Please be sure to bookmark the new location: NObamaBlog on WordPress, and visit and comment there!

New McCain Ad Called “Words” Reveals Obama’s Flip-Floppin’ Hypocrisy on Public Financing
Arizona Senator GOP nominee-to-be John McCain has put out an excellent ad that really goes to the heart of what’s wrong with the notion of a Obama presidency. The ad uses Obama’s own statements to show what kind of flip-flopping, Chicago-style political animal Obama really is. It’s a slick message with punch and resonance.

Dobson accuses Obama of 'distorting' Bible
What James Dobson fails to grasp is that The Anointed One is going to re-do all that is sacred and cherished. He's already re-worked The Declaration of Independence and The Presidential Seal; why would he balk at rewriting The Bible? It's already been discussed that he plans to at least include a new chapter to chronicle his nomination.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- As Barack Obama broadens his outreach to evangelical voters, one of the movement's biggest names, James Dobson, accuses the likely Democratic presidential nominee of distorting the Bible and pushing a 'fruitcake interpretation' of the Constitution.

Forget John Kerry, the Real Flip-Flopper is Barack Obama
Despite Kerry’s serious and continuous flip-flops, it is almost regrettable that the term “flip-flopper” was so extensively applied to him. This is because one presidential candidate has been giving Kerry a good run for his money in pursuing the flip-flopper prize, and using the same line of attacks against him could be dismissed by the electorate as repetitive. Appropriately, this new flip-flopper is none other than the candidate of “change” himself, Barack Obama.

Hillary Clinton supporters were swiftboated
posted by "Jolene"
In the 2004 presidential campaign, I worked hard for Howard Dean, because he was one of the few candidates speaking out against Bush's invasion of Iraq. When Dean's candidacy died and John Kerry became the Democratic Party's nominee, I was sad but I made the switchover and worked for Kerry.
Not this time.
This time things are different.
In fact, I've never seen anything like this campaign in terms of rigging things so one candidate (Hillary Clinton) would lose and one candidate (Barack Obama) would win.
It was bad enough when the media people were allowed to maul Hillary, but when even supposedly fellow Democrats -- who KNEW better -- started calling Hillary and Bill Clinton "racists" for making perfectly sensible, historical, non-racist observations, I began to suspect the "fix" was in.
When the media AND the Obama gang made insulting and abusive remarks not only to Hillary but to anyone who supported her, I began to suspect the "fix" was in.
When the leaders of the Democratic Party were SILENT in the face of the almost daily degrading insults hurled at Hillary, I began to suspect the "fix" was in.
When, on the day after Obama decided he had won the nomination (even though Obama STILL does NOT have sufficient pledged delegates to give him the nomination and still needs the UNpledged votes of the super-delegates to win the nomination), the DNC and Obama camp announced that the DNC was moving to Chicago and would be MERGED with the Obama camp, I KNEW the "fix" was in.
The Democratic Party represents the interests of more candidates than just the presidential candidate; it is SUPPOSED to represent the best interests of ALL the other down-ticket Democratic candidates as well.
But, if the Democratic Party and Democratic Party MONEY are now under the control of Obama, those Democratic candidates who did not endorse Obama OR endorsed Obama too late to satisfy Barack Obama, will receive NO money and NO help from the Democratic Party and will be left (by Obama) to "twist in the wind."
If Obama becomes president, he will deal with his "enemies (all Hillary supporters are his "enemies") in ways that will resemble the Soviet way of dealing with "those who are not loyal to The Supreme Leader."
Barack Obama is George W. Bush and Richard Nixon rolled into won, on steroids.

National Review Online: 10 Concerns about Barack Obama
By William J. Bennett & Seth Leibsohn
1. Barack Obama’s foreign policy is dangerous, naïve, and betrays a profound misreading of history. For at least the past five years, Democrats and liberals have said our standing in the international community has suffered from a “cowboy” or “go-it-alone” foreign policy. While politicians with favorable views of our president have been elected in Germany, Italy, France, and elsewhere, Barack Obama is giving cause to make our allies even more nervous. This past Sunday’s Washington Post reported, “European officials are increasingly concerned that Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign pledge to begin direct talks with Iran on its nuclear program without preconditions could potentially rupture U.S. relations with key European allies early in a potential Obama administration.”

USNews & World Report: Barack Obama, Serial Flip-Flopper
Both presidential candidates spent the weekend trying to explain away recent policy reversals. The predominant question for voters this November may well become: Whose list of flip-flops is longer and more egregious?
From CNN.com:
Days after both men reversed course on major issues, the presidential campaigns of Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain spent much of Sunday's talk-show circuit working to ensure accusations of "flip-flopping" don't stick.

Lt. Col Allen West, GOP candidate for Congress in Florida has a messge for Barack Obama: Don’t hide behind race; run as a Man and a Leader
In response to Obama's claim that Republicans will use race to stoke fear, Lt. Col Allen West (pictured at left), candidate for Congress in Florida's 22 District issued this release:
“My advice to Senator Obama is to run as a Man and Leader, and the American people will evaluate you as such, not as a victim. This is a Presidential race, based solely on a capacity to lead the United States of America. It is not about skin tone...however; perhaps we should come to expect these immature statements.
It also seems rather humorous that the Presidential candidate who was supposed to be such a ‘uniter’ and transcend race is the one talking about it the most. If Senator Obama was confident in his abilities and character, he would not need to create a crutch for failure. Senator Obama has just tipped his hand, any criticism of him and his policies will be directly attributed to racism. I congratulate Senator Obama for taking race relations in America back some 30 years.”

Politically Drunk on Power: New Low: Obama Blames McCain For Flooding & Throws Feingold Under The Bus
Barack Obama stooped to a new low in his campaign of division and distraction on Saturday when he scraped the bottom of the barrel in his inference that John McCain may be partially to blame for levee collapses throughout the region. In a prepared statement Obama stated, "I know that Sen. McCain felt as strongly as I did, feeling enormous sympathy for the victims of the recent flooding. I'm sure they appreciated the sentiment, but they probably would have appreciated it even more if Sen. McCain hadn't opposed legislation to fund levees and flood control programs, which he considers pork."
Obama's attack on McCain, even as flood waters continue rise in Illinois and Missouri, is a new low for Obama, as his attack on John McCain also threw top Democrat Russ Feingold (led the opposition to the bill) under the bus. The McCain campaign justifiably returned fired by calling out Obama's distortion and failure to disclose the facts concerning the bill.

Liberal Rapture: Obama begins his jump over the shark
What Obama did today should surprise no one. He is a liar. Liars lie. Obama's lie in February regarding retroactive immunity for criminal Telecom companies - that became clear today when he caved in (real liberals like Russ Feingold did not) is precisely why this blog will continue to repeat over and over again one simple phrase: Obama is a Fraud. The DNC gamed the system to defeat the best candidate in a generation, who won the most votes, and grew in strength all year, in favor of an untested, rancid, corrupt Chicago politician - who gives good speech. (provided a TelePrompter is present.) Obama has no real values. His entire career is a sham, created and paid for by a sickening cabal of far Left terrorists, middle class resentment driven socialists, bigots hiding behind history, and the corrupt to the core Daley machine.
Let's be as clear as possible about what Obama did today. After caving in he said as President he would work to over turn the law. Here's what that means - his political calculation is more important than your 4th amendment rights. He is willing to submerge YOUR constitution on the chance he will win. OBAMA IS A FRAUD.

A Matter of Faith
Whether a Presidential candidate’s faith or spiritual beliefs should be discussed or considered important is debatable; however, the issue isn’t going to go away anytime soon.
In 2000 we elected (some say the Supreme Court selected) a President who claims to be a man of strong Christian faith. George W. Bush’s political opponents on the Left have continuously mocked him over this issue.
Was Bush pandering to the Religious Right with his proclamations about his faith? Of course he was! And progressive-minded people have never missed an opportunity to point out each and every instance where the President’s actions did not match the instructions of Jesus Christ as taught to His followers in the Bible. They never let up on their warnings that Bush 43 was trying to turn America into a theocracy.
There is little question among all but the most die-hard Bush supporters that it seemed he was more willing to talk the talk than walk the walk of their view of how a Christian man should act. But do we ever really know what is in a man’s heart?
That depends on who you support and how much of the Kool-aid you’ve consumed.
There has been much speculation about the true faith of Democratic candidate Barack Hussein Obama. Due to many things in his background, rumors have circulated that he is a Muslim, in spite of his assertions that he used to be an atheist who converted to Christianity some time ago.
Obamabots have apoplectic fits over the Muslim rumors, failing to understand why the man’s word that he is a Christian is not good enough to satisfy those who continue to wonder about his faith. Of course, this is coming from a crowd who worship the Senator, believing he IS The Messiah, and who would trust him if he told them that clouds are made of marshmallows. But I digress.
Those who question Obama’s true faith are treated as idiots by the idiots who blindly follow The Anointed One. His supporters are oblivious to the hypocrisy of behaving the exact same way Bush’s supporters did in 2000 and in 2004. In their minds, the voting public should trust that Obama is whatever he says he is, simply because he says so. In spite of the fact that Obama himself tells us in his second book, The Audacity of Hope, that he “serve(s) as a blank screen on which…people project their own views” it’s impossible for them to accept that there is any chance Obama might play the usual political games.
Those who are not under Obama’s spell might easily see a discrepancy between Obama’s “talk” and his “walk” with regard to his faith.
For example, one could look at the church Obama has been attending for the last 20 years. If one doesn’t inspect the situation too closely, it could be assumed that Trinity United Church of Christ is a Christian church, which would seem to support Obama’s claim of being a Christian. Of course, by now, anyone who watches the news know what really goes on in this church. I don’t know about anyone else, but the stuff that Reverend Jeremiah Wright has been preaching at Trinity United Church of Christ isn’t in my Bible. Despite its name, Black Liberation Theology is more about political activism than theology.
While this alone is not evidence that he is a Muslim, it doesn’t necessarily mean that he is or is not a Christian either. If we apply the same standard to Obama that the Left applied to George W. Bush, we might have to conclude that Obama is no closer to walking the walk than George is. Obamabot demands that we accept Obama at his word just because he says so should be rejected. There is no reason whatsoever why voters and/or the mainstream media should be taking everything that any politician says on faith.

(T)here will be unity all right. But isn’t unity supposed to be something magnetic? When Obama says he wants to unify the country, isn’t the idea that Americans willingly want to unify in a spirit of togetherness and cooperation?
This story sounds like the Communists in the U.S.S.R. telling the world that their people were united. They were united all right. Or else the KGB came by for some vodka and a chat. Obama has completely taken over the apparatus of the Democrat Party and will control every aspect of it.
Let’s not forget that half of the Democrat Party voted against Obama, and some (perhaps significant) percentage of those folks in the Party hierarchy and around the country have threatened to stay home or vote for McCain. The message to those folks from the Boss in Chicago is that you are welcome to stay, but keep your mouth shut and do what you are told.

NewsBusters: Chicago Sun-Times' Sweet Live-blogged Michelle Obama on 'The View'

Whoopi Goldberg: "I'm really glad to see you because ...any time you see black folks on the news, particularly women, they have no teeth, and the teeth that they have have gold around them and they can't put a sentence together and perhaps now, we can, this is, you are helping to change a perception. And you know, I knew this man that I loved, he was sweet and pathetic, I thought. there was no way.......""
At that Walters the other hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd seemed to instantly realize what Obama did not--that you do not call a potential president of the United State pathetic, even if you love him--and they started kind of shouting at her, to sort of stop her before she does more damage and gives another quote that will be used against her...Someone suggested that Obama really intended to say "empathetic."

Barack Obama: The Undistinguished Gentleman
Barack Obama’s record, judgment and message are at best entirely undistinguished in the field of presidential politics. At worst, we have Axelrod’s campaign of personality attracting a cult of followers so creepy that even many Obama backers are put off by it, to a man who admits he is a “blank screen,” with a message that is either illusory or tyrannical. Media Alert from Just Say No Deal: Obama Supporters, Show Some Class!
June 18, 2008
MEDIA ALERT
Just Say No Deal Asks Obama Supporters To: “Show Some Class”
Tasteless Behavior Like the Booing of Public Officials Has NO Place in Our Election Process
- Online and Nationwide— JustSayNoDeal.com, a coalition of voters, individual activists, blogs, PACs and grassroots organizations, reacts to the scene on Monday night in Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena when Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm received a deafening chorus of boos at her mention of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Moments later former Vice President Al Gore experienced similar jeering when he referred to Senator John McCain.
Just Say No Deal Coalition members will not tolerate such offensive and disrespectful conduct from supporters of Senator Obama aimed at any individual— whether they be an elected official or a member of the community at large, and the Just Say No Deal organization will not align itself with any candidate that permits this shameful behavior to be exhibited in any forum.
During this lengthy primary process Senator Clinton and many of her 18 million supporters have endured pointedly hurtful behavior and vulgar attacks by unruly and inappropriate backers of Senator Obama in public arenas and in new media outlets. The most prevalent arena of these assaults has been on the most recognized sites within the blogosphere.
Concerned citizens continue to break their silence to express their dissatisfaction with party leaders and the short-circuiting of the nominating process. The Just Say No Deal portal offers those voters a plethora of voting strategies, calls-to-action and blogpostings to guide their general election decision-making. In doing so, they reclaim their voices and vow to Just Say No Deal!
America vs. Obama: Obama Supporters vs. Obama Supporters
The writer of this blog story aptly points out that Obama's vague message leaves even his bots...er, I mean supporters...confused about what he really stands for.
Perhaps the strategy for ‘08 should be to get them to talk to each other. Get them to discuss Obama’s policy so they can realize how different their views of it are. That would be the antidote to “hope and change”. When a candidate speaks in completely empty platitudes, the populace which falls into the trap is apt to “fill in the blanks” themselves with whatever positions they admire.
Excellent story...must read!
Politically Drunk on Power: The Obama Bus Rolls Over Clinton & Her Supporters
UPDATE: Here's something for Clinton Supporters to ponder:
According to the Washington Post Report, Obama claimed to have known Solis Doyle for years and 'organized with her brother on the southeast side of Chicago years ago.'
"I've known the family for a very long time. I think that she will bring not only a set of skills that we're going to need as we put together our ticket, but she's going to be a terrific adviser and offer insight and judgment that will help us win in November," Obama remarked.
If Clinton supporters thought that the DNC threw Clinton and her supporters under the bus, yesterday they realized that Obama just drove the bus over them, put it in reverse, and repeated the process.
[...]
Obama campaign sent a clear message to the world that Hillary Clinton will not be his Vice Presidential pick. His message came in the form of the appointment of Patti Solis Doyle as the Vice-Presidential Chief-of-staff.
Solis Doyle was fired by Hillary Clinton in February as she utterly failed in her responsibilities to design a sound primary election strategy. The appointment by Obama, considered strange since vice-presidential nominees typically want a hand in choosing their chief-of-staff, was considered by many Clinton supporters as a slap in the face. Personally, I would equate to being “driven over by the bus”, especially considering this is the Obama campaigns first hire of a Clinton Staffer.
The hiring of Solis Doyle was unnecessary and the Obama campaign could have easily sought to hire a Clinton staffer who was well-respected by her voter coalition. Whether out of ignorance or arrogance, Obama and his campaign sent a clear message to Hillary Clinton supporters that they do not value their votes. Obama strengthened this message when he referred to Solis Doyle as “a terrific, experienced campaign hand" who will bring valuable experience to his campaign.

Telegraph Co (UK): Barack Obama says Winnie the Pooh should shape US foreign policy
By Tim Shipman in Washington
Winnie the Pooh, Luke Skywalker and British football hooligans could shape the foreign policy of Barack Obama if he becomes US President, according to a key adviser.
Richard Danzig, who served as Navy Secretary under President Clinton and is tipped to become National Security Adviser in an Obama White House, told a major foreign policy conference in Washington that the future of US strategy in the war on terrorism should follow a lesson from the pages of Winnie the Pooh, which can be shortened to: if it is causing you too much pain, try something else.
Mr Danzig told the Centre for New American Security: “Winnie the Pooh seems to me to be a fundamental text on national security.”

Obama’s America Is September 10th America
His latest remarks betray an alarming ignorance.
By Andrew C. McCarthy
This is June 2008. That means it marks the ten-year anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s indictment. He was first charged by my old office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, in June 1998. That was before the bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania (hundreds killed), before the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole (17 U.S. members of the U.S. Navy killed), and before 9/11 (nearly 3000 Americans killed). So it’s fair to ask: How is that strategy of prosecuting him in the criminal-justice system working out?
That’s a question Sen. John McCain ought to be putting to Sen. Barack Obama every day.

Obama, Israel and AIPACBy URI AVNERY
After months of a tough and bitter race, a merciless struggle, Barack Obama has defeated his formidable opponent, Hillary Clinton. He has wrought a miracle: for the first time in history a black person has become a credible candidate for the presidency of the most powerful country in the world.
And what was the first thing he did after his astounding victory? He ran to the conference of the Israel lobby, AIPAC, and made a speech that broke all records for obsequiousness and fawning.
That is shocking enough. Even more shocking is the fact that nobody was shocked.

Change, What Change?
By ALEXANDER COCKBURN
On Tuesday June 3 Barack Obama claimed the greatest prize the Democratic Party can offer, namely his nomination as its candidate for the presidency. The very next day the salesman of “change” raced from Minnesota back to Washington and publicly abased himself at the feet of an organization whose prime mission is to ensure that change unpalatable to the state of Israel will never be pressed by the United States government. The terms of Obama’s surrender exploded like rhetorical cluster bombs across the Middle East. To Israel and its Arab neighbors it surely signaled that whoever moves into the White House next January, there will be no swerve from Bush’s role as guarantor of Israeli intransigence.
Obama will give free trade a rough ride
Obama's populist position on trade could bring a crisis of confidence.
BARACK Obama has taken the notion of politics as a performance art to another level. Other than perhaps the folksy Ronald Reagan, or the charismatic JFK, he is surely the most honey-tongued crooner ever to run for presidential office in America.
Obama's capacity to light up a lecture hall is a powerful asset in the image-obsessed politics of the early 21st century. But it also raises a serious concern: are people intoxicated by what he says, or more by how he says it?
Why should this be a worry? Because the world has much to lose by not paying very close attention to what the Democratic Party contender articulates as his core policy beliefs. Especially, if elected, he acts accordingly.

The Weekly Standard: It's Not Race, It's Arugula
Obama's real electoral challenge.
by Noemie Emery
On the way to his rendezvous with destiny, Barack Obama consistently lost white voters, especially of the middle and working classes, to Hillary Clinton--voters variously known as Appalachians or Reagan Democrats, rural voters and white ethnics in the industrial states. Because of this, he lost most of the big swing states that a Democrat needs--Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia (which would have made Gore president in 2000 had he won there), that last by a staggering 41 points. Heading into the general election, in which the weight of the black vote will shrink as compared to its importance in the Democratic primaries, this weakness emerged as the prime threat to his promising candidacy and gave birth to two schools of thought on its cause.

An Open Letter to Ron Paul Revolutionaries in support of our country
But endorsing someone and voting for them are two different things. We may not know who will get Dr. Paul’s vote in November, but his supporters are now facing a choice: should they write-in Ron Paul? Vote for Bob Barr? Should they stick to their own principles, or should they hold their noses and make a more pragmatic choice?
I’m writing this today in hopes to convince my fellow Ron Paul Revolutionaries why they should opt for the latter.
We’ve heard it all before: a vote for a 3rd party candidate amounts to throwing away our vote. I don’t believe that, and I know you don’t either. A vote for principle is never one that is thrown away. But we are also intelligent people; we know that the system is not set up for a 3rd party candidate to win (much less one that we write-in). The bottom line is that the next President of the United States will either be John McCain or Barack Obama, like it or not.
It’s typical of Libertarians, Independent voters, and other 3rd party voters to think there is not one bit of difference between the two candidates of the major political parties. In 2008, that could not be farther from the truth.
There are many reasons to believe that Barack Obama is a Marxist who has close connections with many people who have a strong dislike for the United States of America. Most prominent among them are William Ayers of the Weather Underground and Reverend Jeremiah A. Wright of Trinity United Church of Christ. What we don’t know about the Senator could fill volumes; his campaign rhetoric is decidedly vague, and designed to evoke more emotional responses than reasoned ones. The Obama campaign headquarters in Houston, Texas displays a Cuban flag with a picture of Che Guevara; while Senator Obama’s wife has not until recently found any reason to be proud of our country.
One thing I understood about Ron Paul is that he loves our country. He puts freedom above all other values, and will stand up for our Constitution until he takes his last breath. To me, Ron Paul’s values are the antithesis of Barack Obama’s. The future of our beloved nation may be at stake. Even if you must hold your nose to do so, please consider a vote for John McCain.

Real Clear Politics: Obama's Change... What? When? How?

There is no evidence that Mr. Obama would move to the center on any of his policies. We certainly don't hear about it in his campaign rhetoric. We hear about "change" and vague references to bringing people together, but there's no substance to back up the talk. Presumably, Mr. Obama will bring people together, as long as they all end up agreeing with him. So he's really offering a kinder, gentler way of getting rolled.

The Psychology behind the Obama campaign, and why it may have worked
Barack Obama emerged on the national political landscape with his keynote address to the Democratic National Convention in 2004, unknown to most outside of Illinois before then.
Have you ever wondered what was going on behind the scenes at the DNC leading up to that speech, and what effect it has had on where we are today? It’s become obvious to me that there are Marxist sympathizers who have infiltrated the Democratic Party. Obviously there are still many centrists as well, but the division between the two sects has been widening for some time. In the 2008 primaries, the far left succeeded in marginalizing the centrists.
How much did the DNC, under Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi, play a role in pushing aside the more moderate wing of their party at all costs? Did they purposely select Barack Obama to be “the one they have been waiting for”? Was it because they could easily sell his youth, charisma, and good-looks to an electorate that falls for symbolism over substance? Is it just a coincidence that a young, attractive African-American man with a exceptional oratory skills is the nominee of the Democratic Party – despite early polling data and against all odds? Or was it a deliberate selection with the knowledge that a black man is above criticism (just play the race card and everyone backs off)?
I don’t think I’m the only one who believes that Barack Obama is a Marxist, and I believe most of those in his inner circle are not only quite aware of that fact, but embrace him because of it. I doubt that most of his supporters realize it, or even care about it; I wonder how many of his young supporters even know what it really means.
Barack Obama has a very flimsy resume and has been incredibly vague about his plans for the future of our country. His campaign rhetoric is full of platitudes, such as “Change You Can Believe In” “Yes We Can” and “Hope” – not much substance. Is that deliberate? His campaign targeted this “message” to the very young, first-time voters – those whose experiences allow them to think only in idealistic terms rather than realistic ones. These young supporters have been discussed in the media as almost though they had been indoctrinated, as a cult-like following. Perhaps that was the intention all along.
From my point of view, it seems that Barack Obama has been appealing to voters’ emotions rather having a meeting of minds with voters on issues. I believe this was by design, and there is a psychological reason why this would create a strong bond between him and his supporters that could not be broken, even in the face of strong evidence of negative information about him.
Some may be familiar with the psychological term “cognitive dissonance”. If someone is called upon to learn something which contradicts what they already think they know — particularly if they are committed to that prior knowledge — they are likely to resist the new learning. I believe the Obama camp intentionally ran a campaign designed to capture a positive emotional response, knowing full well that such a heavy personal investment would insure cognitive dissonance to kick in with his die-hard supporters when the negative information about his associates and background would later become known.
How else could someone with such a puny resume and suspicious associates rise so high, so quickly? Are we being hoodwinked and bamboozled? I believe so.
How would any potential totalitarian Marxist be able to get a foothold in the psyche of mindless and vulnerable American voters? Isn't this exactly the kind of approach we could expect if it were to happen at all? Are most Americans willing to throw the country over for empty promises without doing research on the man they might elect as their President? Are voters so susceptible to the kind of platitudes Senator Obama is offering to them that they are willing to ignore everything else that is staring them right in the face?
I hope I'm wrong about all of this. I guess we'll find out one way or the other by November.

WSJ: Obama Is Right, Words Matter
"Don't tell me words don't matter!" Sen. Barack Obama thundered at a Wisconsin Democratic Party dinner in February. He should have remembered that at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference last week.
There, Mr. Obama defended the outrageous promise he made last July to meet, during his first year as president and without precondition, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea. Mr. Obama's eagerness to undertake a "World Tyrants Tour" is both naive and foolhardy, and how he dealt with those concerns at AIPAC raises the question of whether he's done his homework.
Mr. Obama knew the audience was wondering what could come from such meetings, except propaganda victories for thugs and a loss of prestige for America. He tried to mitigate the damage of his promised meetings. But the man who criticizes George W. Bush for unilateralism ended up denouncing a multilateral approach to Iran, saying it would "outsource the sustained work to our European allies."
Washington Post:: The Unvetted Vetter
Say this for Sen. Barack Obama: He is a lot quicker in these post-Jeremiah Wright days to walk away from controversy caused him by others. By the time he finished distancing himself from Jim Johnson, his former vice presidential vetter, Johnson must have felt like he was on Mars.
After Johnson was portrayed in the Wall Street Journal as having received favorable treatment from Countrywide Financial Corp., a mortgage company Obama has frequently attacked, the Democratic presidential candidate immediately labeled Johnson as being only "tangentially related to our campaign."
Shifting into overdrive, Obama added that "these aren't folks who are working for me," referring to Johnson and his two associates on the vice presidential vetting team, Caroline Kennedy and Eric Holder.
It was enough to make you wonder if the three had somehow broken into Obama's office, stolen his letterhead stationery and appointed themselves to interview the capital's good and great about who should join Obama on the Democratic ticket.

Washington Post: Obama Defense of Johnson Raises Questions
By Dan Balz
The most important decision Barack Obama will make between now and the November election is the selection of a vice presidential running mate. That makes all the more remarkable his effort Tuesday to suggest that the people he has put in charge of helping make the decision are somehow not really part of his campaign.
Obama is on the defensive over his selection of James A. Johnson, the former CEO of Fannie Mae, to help lead the vice presidential search process, a role he played for John F. Kerry four years ago.

Everybody knows that the very first rule in picking a vice president is to do no harm. Really, you can choose anybody. How dumb would you feel if it turned into an embarrassment? This is why the careful, modern candidate sets up a screening system.
Now ask yourself: how dumb would you feel if you got in trouble over your selection for the vice-presidential screener.
Barack Obama is having the first postprimary crisis, a moment in which the only conceivable response is: what was he thinking?
Obama's "Undivided Jerusalem" - More Meaningless Words?
The Jewish community (where Gallup shows McCain drawing an unexpectedly strong 35%) has begun to learn about the Illinois Senator’s slippery and deceptive rhetorical habits, and one can only hope that in subsequent weeks the rest of the country will receive the same lessons.

Who Is Obama? Where Is the Press?
De Zutter's article shows us that the full story of Obama's ties to Pfleger and Wright is both more disturbing and more politically relevant than we've realized up to now. On Obama's own account, the rhetoric and vision of Chicago's most politically radical black churches are exactly what he wants to see more of.

Obama’s Unofficial Slogan: ‘No, You’re Wrong.’
Whatever happened to his ‘pang of shame’?
By Jim Geraghty
As Barack Obama’s campaign becomes defined by a series of embarrassments — his assessment of what small-town residents cling to, a mentor who believes the government created HIV, a friend of 20 years who takes to the pulpit and demands whites give up 401(k) accounts to atone for their ancestor’s racist sins, a wife who pledges to take away some people’s pie and give it to others, an associate who expresses no regret over planting a bomb in a Pentagon women’s bathroom, etc. — it seems mind-boggling that this candidate was once promoted as a healer, a unifier, and a groundbreaking, post-partisan leader.
But back then, not terribly long ago, it did seem like Obama could, at the very least, promote a tone of mutual respect, decency, and trust.

Obama sure knows how to pick 'em:

Accuracy in Media: Obama's Communist Mentor
From February 2008 by Cliff Kincaid
In his biography of Barack Obama, David Mendell writes about Obama's life as a "secret smoker" and how he "went to great lengths to conceal the habit." But what about Obama's secret political life? It turns out that Obama's childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a communist.

Asia Times: Obama's women reveal his secret
[...]
Never underestimate the influence of a wife who bitch-slaps her husband in public. Early in Obama's campaign, Michelle Obama could not restrain herself from belittling the senator. "I have some difficulty reconciling the two images I have of Barack Obama. There's Barack Obama the phenomenon. He's an amazing orator, Harvard Law Review, or whatever it was, law professor, best-selling author, Grammy winner. Pretty amazing, right? And then there's the Barack Obama that lives with me in my house, and that guy's a little less impressive," she told a fundraiser in February 2007.
"For some reason this guy still can't manage to put the butter up when he makes toast, secure the bread so that it doesn't get stale, and his five-year-old is still better at making the bed than he is." New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd reported at the time, "She added that the TV version of Barack Obama sounded really interesting and that she'd like to meet him sometime." Her handlers have convinced her to be more tactful since then.

Political Punch: Obama's Answer on the Johnson Conundrum
by Jake Tapper
ABC News' Sunlen Miller today asked Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, how he could "rail against Countrywide Financial Corp as an example of insiders and today's economy while your VP search is headed by someone who got questionable loans from Countrywide?" (This is an issue we wrote about earlier today.)
"And in addition," Miller continued, "another person on that same VP search team – Eric Holder -- has also been involved in the Marc Rich scandal."
Obama's stumbing, bumbling answer to the charge can be found here.

New York Daily News: Barack Obama and Scarlett Johansson's mutual admiration society
DAILY NEWS STAFF
Tuesday, June 10th 2008, 4:33 PM
A candidate for president needs all the good advice he can get. Even, apparently, from a hot young Hollywood thing.
Scarlett Johansson hasn't been shy about her admiration for Barack Obama, going so far as to joke with reporters in January that the two were engaged.
But as Politico.com reveals, the dashing politician and the glamorous starlet have an ongoing correspondence in which she cheers him on and has even commented on his performance in debates.
After the ABC News debate hosted by Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos, widely considered to be a debacle, she sent Obama an e-mail praising him for "holding his ground."
And the relationship is far from one-sided. "You'd imagine that someone like the senator who is constantly traveling and constantly 'on' - how can he return these personal e-mails?" Johansson asked. "But he does ...". She added that Obama reaches out to many of his supporters with personal calls or e-mails - some of whom have donated the minimum contribution amount - not just the ones who happen to star in Woody Allen movies.
Johansson said the politician also offers his opinions on her career, citing the actress' turn in "Lost in Translation" as his favorite.

NRO: Jewish Whispering Campaign
Anatomy of a Newsweek hit.
By Mark Hemingway
Newsweek has a piece this week on Barack Obama — titled “His Jewish Problem: A Myth?” — that is an absolutely Herculean feat of water-carrying for the Illinois senator. But before tackling the factual problems, the article’s biggest problem needs to be addressed — Newsweek aids and abets the Obama campaign’s decision to slander Joe Lieberman:

U.S.News & World Report: Obama and the Democrats Owe Hillary Clinton and Her Supporters a Formal Apology for the Campaign's Sexism
Sen. Hillary Clinton may have come out full bore for the Barack Obama campaign on Saturday, but many of her supporters are having none of it.
Check out this CNN video on YouTube, which sums up the palpable anger many of her supporters feel. Another must-see Web stop is Ed Hale's site, hcsfjm.com. That is shorthand for Hillary Clinton Supporters for John McCain. Hale claims to have garnered 35,000 supporters within a week of launching the site.
The Democratic National Committee either doesn't get it or refuses to admit it. Nothing short of a lengthy, detailed mea culpa by the DNC and by Obama himself, directed to Clinton supporters for the sexist name-calling and personal, nasty characterizations Clinton was alone forced to endure, will do. Even that may not persuade these voters to consider supporting the party this fall. The DNC, Democratic Party leaders in Congress, and Obama should have been at her side, calling her treatment by the media (and even by some Obama supporters) unacceptable.
NoQuarter USA: Barack Obama Condones Coordinated Internet Harassment by his Thugs
by Uppity Woman
First, I need to direct you to this entry at Rezko Watch, so that you will understand that the systematic internet abuse of people who do not support Barack Obama is planned by the Barack Obama campaign with the blessings of the Plastic Jesus Himself.
You will read about the “Echo Chamber” to be created on the internet, managed by the same man who led Howard Dean’s internet onslaught. You will also read about how the Plan includes media manipulation. Actually, the entire “plan” is practically Orwellian.
[...]
The idea here is to turn the internet into a constant Pro Obama “echo”. This includes going where people who do not support Obama are. It also included driving all Hillary supporters away from presumably “objective” sites until the sites become All Obama All The Time.
The most recent example of Obama-Planned onslaught was seen yesterday, when many established bloggers’ and message board users’ names and their links (including my own) were nearly simultaneously forged in messages on forums and blogs all over the net.
The messages, falsely bearing our names, stated that we have had a “change of heart” and now “support Barack Obama”.
[...]Barack Obama owns the internet slaughter we have tolerated for more than a year, folks.

New York Sun: Beyond Obama's Beauty
By KENNETH BLACKWELL
February 14, 2008
[...] Mr. Obama is the single most liberal senator in the entire U.S. Senate. He is more liberal than Ted Kennedy, Bernie Sanders, or Mrs. Clinton.
Never in my life have I seen a presidential frontrunner whose rhetoric is so far removed from his record. Walter Mondale promised to raise our taxes, and he lost. George McGovern promised military weakness, and he lost. Michael Dukakis promised a liberal domestic agenda, and he lost.
Yet Mr. Obama is promising all those things, and he's not behind in the polls. Why? Because the press has dealt with him as if he were in a beauty pageant.
